Warranty
Every job we complete is backed by a written workmanship warranty. Roof waterproofing and heatproofing carry a 10-year workmanship warranty; plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and renovation work carry a 12-month workmanship warranty on the specific problem we fixed. Either way, if a failure traces back to how we did the work, we come back and fix it at no cost to you.
Roof Waterproofing & Heatproofing: 10-Year Workmanship Warranty
We stand behind our installation for a full 10 years from completion. If a leak or failure happens because of how we installed it, and not because of storm damage, misuse, or someone else’s work, we repair it at no cost to you, for the full 10 years. Coverage doesn’t shrink over time; year 1 and year 10 are treated the same.
Most contractors in the UAE offer one to two years on workmanship. We offer 10 because we control the installation from start to finish and stand behind it.
This warranty covers our labor. It applies to all waterproofing and heatproofing services we provide: roofs, terraces and podium decks, basements, bathrooms, and any other scope specified in your project contract.
It covers failures caused by:
- Improper application, detailing, or lapping of the waterproofing membrane or coating
- Incorrect falls or slope work that leads to water pooling at points we installed
- Poor sealing or detailing around penetrations, upstands, drains, or joints we worked on
- Insulation board and thermal system fit, where the problem traces back to how it was installed
- Any installation error traceable to our workmanship
Workmanship Warranty vs. Materials Warranty
These are two different things, and worth keeping separate.
Workmanship warranty (ours, 10 years). Covers defects caused by how we installed your roof or waterproofing system: a seam that wasn’t sealed properly, insulation that wasn’t fitted to spec, flashing that was placed incorrectly. If our installation fails within 10 years, we fix it at no cost to you.
Materials warranty (the manufacturer’s). Covers the product itself (the membrane, the coating, the insulation board) failing on its own, independent of installation. This warranty comes from the manufacturer (for example Sika, Fosroc, or whichever product we use on your project), not from us, and its length varies by product. We’ll tell you exactly what applies to your job in your project documentation, and if a failure is due to a material defect rather than our installation, we’ll help you claim directly against the manufacturer’s warranty.
Some companies bundle these two together under one number, which can hide gaps in coverage. We keep them separate so you know exactly who’s responsible for what.
What’s Not Covered
- Damage from storms, extreme weather, fire, or other acts of nature
- Structural movement, settlement, or defects in the building structure unrelated to our work
- Damage caused by third parties: other contractors, unauthorized rooftop work, or later modifications
- Neglect or lack of maintenance, such as blocked drains or debris left unaddressed
- Misuse, vandalism, or damage from foot traffic or equipment outside the agreed scope
- Repairs or alterations to our work carried out by anyone other than Shield Edge
- Work left unpaid under the original contract
If a covered issue comes up, we move quickly to repair it and stop it from causing further damage. This warranty covers the cost of repairing the defect itself; it doesn’t extend to separate damage to the property’s contents or finishes that may have resulted from it.
Keeping Your Warranty in Good Shape
As part of your warranty, we check in once a year to confirm the waterproofing is performing as expected and catch small issues (like blocked drains or debris buildup) before they turn into bigger ones. We’ll reach out to schedule a quick visual inspection, or you can send photos if that’s easier. It’s a free yearly health check, not a condition of your coverage.
Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC & Renovation: 12-Month Workmanship Warranty
Repairs and installations across plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and renovation work carry a 12-month workmanship warranty from completion, covering the specific problem we fixed. If that same issue recurs because of how we did the work, we repair it at no cost to you.
This warranty doesn’t cover pre-existing or unrelated issues, misuse, damage from third parties, or work altered by anyone other than Shield Edge.
How to Make a Claim
- Contact us. Call, WhatsApp, or email, with a description and photos if you have them.
- We inspect. For an active or urgent issue, like an active leak, we prioritize a same-day or emergency response. For a routine claim, we assess the site within 2 business days to confirm the cause.
- We repair. If it falls under warranty terms, we schedule and complete the repair at no cost to you.
- If it doesn’t qualify, we’ll explain why and give you a quote if you’d like us to handle it anyway.
Terms
- This warranty transfers to a new owner if the property is sold within the coverage period, whether that’s the 10-year roofing and waterproofing warranty or the 12-month warranty on other work.
- Keep your project invoice and any inspection reports. They’re your proof of coverage.
- We may request reasonable access to the site to inspect before approving a claim.
- A warranty is only as good as the company behind it. Shield Edge is a Dubai-registered mainland contractor, and this warranty is honored for the full term regardless of which team member originally completed the work.
Why We Back Our Work This Way
Waterproofing and heatproofing is only as good as the installation behind it. Ten years of workmanship coverage, and a clear 12-month commitment on every other job, is how we put that confidence in writing rather than just saying it during the sales pitch.
When you’re comparing warranty terms across contractors, the number of years matters less than what’s actually covered. A 20-year warranty that only covers leaks on one product line, with materials excluded, can end up covering less than our 10 years. Ours explicitly covers our labor on every part of the installation, with materials backed separately by the manufacturer. Ask any contractor two questions before you sign: what exactly does the warranty cover, and what voids it?
Governing Law
